What is InflationGlobal?

InflationGlobal.com is a free inflation calculation tool that helps you understand how the value of your money has changed over time. We cover over 200 countries and territories with historical data from 1960 to the present.

Our Data Source

We use official data from the World Bank, specifically the FP.CPI.TOTL indicator (Consumer Price Index). This is the most reliable and widely recognized source for global inflation data.

How Does It Work?

Our calculator uses the standard inflation adjustment formula based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI):

Valor Ajustado = Valor Original × (CPI Año Final / CPI Año Inicial)

This gives you the equivalent purchasing power of a sum of money in different years.

Common Use Cases

  • Salary Comparison: Compare salaries from different years in real terms
  • Investment Analysis: Evaluate the real return on your investments after inflation
  • Contract Adjustment: Update old contract values to present value
  • Historical Research: Understand the value of money in historical contexts

Accuracy and Limitations

While we use official World Bank data, it's important to understand that:

  • The CPI represents an average and may not reflect your individual experience
  • Data availability varies by country and time period
  • The most recent data may have a lag of up to 2 years

Available Languages

InflationGlobal is available in: English, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and Chinese.
